Established in 1987 by experienced local musicians, the Alamance Jazz Band serves as a member group of Alamance Arts, aiming to offer organized musical learning and performances centered around big band jazz. Comprising 17 instrumentalists and a vocalist, the band has performed everything from outdoor concerts to private events, not only in Alamance County but also in various neighboring cities like Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro. Its diverse membership, spanning multiple professions and ages, rehearses regularly and presents a repertoire encompassing swing hits, jazz standards, contemporary pieces, and even some compositions by area composers.
